Virtual Racing: Experience the Thrill of Miniature RC Cars in VR
Welcome to the world of miniature RC cars in virtual reality, where you can experience the thrill of controlling a tiny vehicle in MIT DESIGN BUILDING FOYER from the comfort of an RC car chassis designed by Transport Design and Product Design.
This Project was a collaboration between M.DES. students: "immersive media students, transportation students, product designers, animation students, and Interior space and Furniture Design students".
Did you know that the first remote-controlled car was invented in 1966 by an Italian electronics company? Since then, the technology has advanced significantly, and now we have miniature RC cars that can be controlled through virtual reality headsets.
Using VR headsets and controllers, users can control their miniature RC cars as if they were actually behind the wheel. The technology allows for a first-person view of the car, giving users a sense of speed and control that is unmatched by traditional remote control methods. Additionally, the use of VR technology can provide a safer environment for users to practice and improve their driving skills without the risk of damaging the car or injuring themselves.
Gameplay Mechanics
The gameplay mechanics of our miniature RC car are virtual reality games in Unreal Engine that are designed to be both fun and challenging. Players control their RC car using a handheld controller, which allows them to steer, accelerate, and brake. The game features multiple tracks, and players must navigate through each track while avoiding obstacles and collecting pick-ups.
